Job Description :



We are looking for a Vice Chancellor, Operations for our Client in the Dallas area. The Vice Chancellor, Operations reports directly to the Chancellor and is a highly visible role within the organization.  In addition to having responsibility for 12 operational functional departments which report to the Vice Chancellor, Operations, the position provides oversight and support on institutional planning, communication, policy development, community relations and endeavoring to problem solve. Serving as an advisor to the senior leadership team, the Vice Chancellor, Operations will plan, direct, coordinate and oversee operations activities in the institution, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization.




Responsibilities and Duties:


 



  • Acts as a strategic partner on the leadership team to coordinate and ensure strong execution across the leadership team in accordance with the strategic plan and drive strong cross-functional and team systems.

  • Acts as a key sounding board and strategic thought partner with other leadership and stakeholders regarding the substantial undertakings and initiatives planned and implemented to meet the needs of the students, employers and community.

  • Collaborates with leadership team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to achieve the objectives and strategic priorities of the organization.

  • Works with functional leadership to develop and/or improve systems, processes, controls, and procedures that improve the overall efficiency of the organization and ensure excellent service.

  • Proactively reviews, analyzes, and identifies management, operational and organizational problems, and develops feasible plans for successful resolutions to those problems.

  • Helps develop and manage a process fostering communication among leadership, reporting and monitoring of key metrics/activities, and ensuring achievement of key business activities.

  • Takes on new tasks with a general attitude that no task is too small, impossible or that a system, process, or initiative cannot be improved.

  • Briefs the Chancellor in advance on key issues, proactively identifies issues that could impact the successful execution of the Chancellor’s commitments and develop ideas to resolve the problem/mitigate the risk.

  • Facilitates communication between Chancellor and leadership team, escalating critical issues and coordinating guidance.

  • Provides staff with the tools, resources, and materials necessary to meet the goals of the organization.

  • Maintains a high level of trust and integrity under strict confidentiality.

  • In conjunction with operational functional leads, builds, implements, and manages a substantial budget.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.



 


 


 


 


 


Required Qualifications :

  • Masters’ degree or higher, preferred, in a related field such as legal, leadership, business, finance, administrative services or other similar program.




  • Will be considered for the role without a Master’s degree or higher if the individual possesses experience in an equivalent position of not less than 8-10 years’ leading operations or administrative services or similar leadership role.

  • 5+ years of work-related experience in senior leadership of operations functions, such as Chief Operating Officer, President, Administrative Services or similar “chief” leadership roles or similar position for a large corporation or educational institution managing similar strategic business operations.

  • Demonstrated organizational, planning and/or project management experience.

  • Proven business acumen based on a broad understanding of all aspects of business, e.g., finance, marketing, human resources, information technology, board governance and relations, public affairs, business continuity, risk management, internal audit, etc.

  • Highly facilitative, with a combination of focus and flexibility, strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and excellent analytical skills with a strong operational focus.

  • Able to provide a strategic, thoughtful, and proactive approach to communication and collaboration. 

  • Ability to plan communication and consultation around key decisions with a goal toward engagement and driving change and innovation.

  • Demonstrated ability to advance the Client's core values of diversity, equity, inclusion.

  • Excellent at building relationships and networks.

  • Ability to perform work with little direction following specific objectives set by the Chancellor.

  • Well-developed skills in prioritizing, organization, decision making and time management.

  • Experience implementing new and/or improving existing processes that impact organizational performance and customer satisfaction.

  • Results oriented in addition to having strong skills in managing multiple projects.

  • Must be willing to travel as needed.

  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.
